Why Harry Sweet potato should win:
With just one visit to the Swartland SPCA, my world became a whole lot brighter.
Sure enough, it was the German Shepherd/sausage dog cross that made me smile the widest. It just so happened that he was the result of a combination of the breeds of my parents’ two dogs, so there was no doubt he would fit right into my family. But there was a problem….my boyfriend did not approve, saying that “that dog looks sorry for himself”. Humph. So, after contemplating it very seriously, I broke up with my boyfriend, adopted Harry Sweet potato and never looked back.
With three kitty friends (who don’t like him quite as much as he likes them), weekends on the farm, Pro Bono biccies, liver in gravy, ostrich bones, pigs’ ears and walks in the park, he lives a dog’s life alright. And it beats his previous life on the streets of Saldanha Bay, that’s fo sho. This chap knows the meaning of life – and that is nothing other than…to have fun – duh! His Joe Cool, happy-go-lucky (and just a little bit naughty) attitude is even rubbing off on me!
Yip, this little sweet potato doggie makes me feel so loved that I’m happy to say naaaah, I DON’T MISS THAT BOYFRIEND.
So you say Mutt of the Year…? I’m thinking Mutt of the Millenium.
