Charmaine NoyCharmaine started as an admin temp at 567 CapeTalk 10 years ago . She got her break in radio by filling in as a traffic reporter. Since then she’s taken to broadcasting seamlessly, first presenting drive time traffic reports, then hosting early morning and weekend shows on 567 CapeTalk before moving over to 94.5 Kfm in 2006. She is also one of the most sought after MCs in the city. Charmaine has developed a close relationship with her listeners, even chatting off air to callers when there’s time. It’s this fresh interaction which she loves about radio. A born and bred Capetonian, Charmaine is passionate about the city and urges locals to take greater care of its delicate environment. A strong supporter of the SPCA, she loves animals and is proud “mum” to two rescued cats, Koki and Ernest.

My deepest connection is to animals, so I struggle to comprehend how anyone can be cruel to them,” she says.

Born and bred in Cape Town, Allan Perrins, CEO of the Cape of Good Hope (CoGH) SPCA, is passionate about the welfare of all animals and the protection of the environment.

Allan joined the CoGH SPCA in December 2000 and after filling various senior positions in the hospital and Inspectorate he was appointed as Chief Executive Officer in 2006. During this period he also served for a period as the Western Cape SPCA’s Regional Chairman and Director.

An accomplished horse man, Allan is also a member of the SA Board for Companion Animal Professionals (Animal Welfare Sector). He lives with his wife Alison in the Boland and is the proud owner of four sterilised pets – two dogs named Shadow and Thumbelina and two cats, Holly and Robin.

“My entire family and I adore animals. Our lives would be incomplete without our four legged companions. They are an indispensable part of our lives.”

Clayton Morar’s fascination with the lives of the rich and famous, Hollywood and anybody celebrity-like has brought him recognition since the age of 13.

This 28-year-old is the man to go to for all the latest scoop and celeb news and mention of any Hollywood star, he’s sure to have either bagged a few thousand autographs or met them in person. A list of Hollywood stars such as Mariah Carey, Matt Damon, David Beckham, Gerard Butler, Keri Hilson, John Legend – he’s met them all!

As a result, Clayton’s been featured on various TV and radio shows highlighting his quest to obtain autographs from the rich and famous.

Born in Port Elizabeth, Clayton’s desire to mix in celebrity circles and track down Hollywood A-listers led him to study towards a National Diploma in Journalism in 2005.

A move to the brighter city lights of Cape Town in 2006 secured him a job at tvplus magazine – where he worked as Assistant News Editor. Since March 2011, Clayton went freelance and works independently now, contributing to some of the country’s top online, print, radio and TV platforms – about all things celebrity, of course!

This self-confessed celebrity addict is also an avid animal lover. “I have always been a dog lover and have been surrounded by at least six dogs in my lifetime. Animals are very dear to me and I support the great work carried out by the SPCA. The SPCA Royal Canin Mutt and Meow of the Year competition is applauded because it encourages a greater awareness about their pivotal role in society and it also encourages animal lovers to celebrate, nurture and engage in a contest – that is fun and entertaining all around“.

Joanne LefsonA former professional golfer with a degree in wildlife and fisheries science from Texas A&M University Joanne Lefson has been dedicated throughout her life to the cause of shelter dogs. In 2004 Joanne became the proud “parent” of Oscar a mixed-breed dog she adopted from the Cape of Good Hope SPCA. So special was the bond between Joanne and Oscar that in 2009 they travelled together to 34 countries on five continents to raise awareness around the plight of shelter dogs and the importance of sterilisation. Following the success of the global campaign, Joanne wrote the best-selling book “Ahound The World – My Travels with Oscar”. Joanne followed up her World Woof Tour with The Pedigree Ahound South Africa tour and in April 2012 will launch The Pedigree Adoption tour with Oscar Maximus – a giant hot air balloon, which Joanne and Oscar will take to South Africa’s major cities to promote dog adoption. If the duo isn’t travelling the world to promote the underdogs, they’re likely to be in Cape Town plotting their next project to raise awareness for dog adoption.

“Thousands of healthy dogs just like Oscar are being destroyed every single day in South Africa and around the world due to irresponsible pet ownership. Every time someone hears Oscar’s story and decides to adopt a dog from a shelter it means that another life is saved,” says Joanne and for her there is nothing more rewarding than this.”
